Technical Program Coordinator, Jordan

With funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the International Youth Foundation (IYF) is working in partnership with the Jordanian Ministry of Social Development (MOSD) to design and implement a five year holistic youth development program to improve social services and protection for vulnerable populations, with an overarching focus on youth employability and civic engagement. YWJ will achieve this goal through the delivery of comprehensive community based activities to meet the needs of disadvantaged youth between 5 and 24 years of age that fall under four components: 1) Increased Youth Access to Market-Driven Life, Employability, and Entrepreneurial Skills Training; 2) Provision of Youth Friendly Services; 3) Expanded Civic Engagement of Youth; and 4) Policy Coordination.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the Amman-based Field Manager in monitoring the quality of work of approximately six Community Based Organization (CBO) sub-grantees in three YWJ target communities through coordination with IYF’s field based staff working  with these CBOs; conduct regular site visits and provide feedback to the Program Field Manager on the timeliness and quality of program interventions.
  • Serve as the key day to day coordination and communications link between Program Management Unit in Amman and IYF field based staff, ensuring smooth, effective communication and information sharing processes.
  • Through site visits, identify specific areas of technical support and capacity building for the CBOs that are required from IYF.
  • Support and coordinate IYF led capacity building activities for program partners and working closely with the Technical Support Specialists.
  • Coordinate between the Program Management Unit in Amman and field based staff to follow up on plans for interfacing with parents, the private sector, and case management tools in the designated communities.
  • Coordinate with IYF Communications Officer, IYF field officers, and CBO staff on implementing local media and communications plans, which may include planning of major community events.
  • Support the coordination of program training service provider activities under the direction of the Program Field Manager and working closely with IYF’s staff working at the field level; follow up with IYF field based staff on service provider work to ensure program quality and relevance of the training curricula.
  • Assist in the documentation of implementation progress, partner meeting minutes and the preparation of appropriate contributions to quarterly reports. Generate other technical reports as required.
  • Assist in the documentation of all cross-cutting activities in relevant communities in support of the program’s Monitoring and Evaluation framework.
  • Identify any problems and challenges in communities of focus that may arise and offer solutions accordingly.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, marketing or communication studies.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in working in international development, ideally in youth education, health or workforce development programming.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.
  • Must be a self starter who takes initiative and is comfortable working with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and diplomacy in a multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Experience working on USAID-funded programs in Jordan and/or the Middle East region is preferred.
  • Computer literate in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Fluent of English and Arabic, both written and oral.
  • Ability to travel 30-50% of time within Jordan.
