UNICEF Timor-Leste Facilitator for Officer Retreat


The All Staff Retreat was reinstated from last year and become an annual event organized by UNICEF Timor-Leste. This year the office will prepare to develop a new country programme so the management wishes to ensure that a transparent and participatory approach to the development of the CCPD and the CPMP will be applied so that all staff are part of the process.
  1. Purposes and Objectives
The purposes of the retreat are to
(1) strengthen team spirit, trust and collaboration among staff members;
(2) to outline key steps in the staff development in response to the assessment of in-house capacity which is one of key priorities for the office this year.
  1. Activities, Deliverables/End Product (s) and Timeframe
Task 1: Prepare and conduct fun activities involving all staff (either indoor or outdoor) that promote team spirit and encourage an understanding of the role of teams in the work environment.
Task 2: Facilitate discussion and formation of recommendation on improving interpersonal communication skills (internal communications, external communications, and confidentiality). Task 3: Prepare and submit a retreat report with follow-up activities. Output: A fun and productive gathering of all staff members of UNICEF Timor-Leste.
  1. Management
Under the supervision of Representative and close working with the office retreat coordination committee. The consultancy will be for 6 days during the period from 10 June 2013 to 30 June 2013.
  1. Qualifications and experience required:
 Demonstrated knowledge and advanced skills and at least 8 years of previous experience in the preparation of Team Building for medium and large-scale organization
 Excellent facilitation and communication skills in English (oral and written)
 Excellent rapporteuring and analytical skills necessary for capturing the reviews and suggestions that will emerge from the interactive sessions during the exercise
 Flexible nature and ability to adapt to changing directions/thinking that may occur during the Retreat
 Excellent interpersonal skills
 Knowledge and experience from working with the UN system, preferably UNICEF
  1. Condition of Work
The consultant will work at home for preparation stage and report after the retreat and will work in Dili, Timor-Leste during the office retreat.
