JSI is seeking a bright, highly motivated, detail oriented individual with strong teamwork, communication, and time-management skills for an opening as a Web Developer. The Web Developer position will support the web development efforts of two international organizations, JSI and World Education and will be responsible for developing and enhancing web applications and technologies for both internal and external clients. The candidate must be a quick learner, and a customer-focused self-starter who is able to work independently and work well in a team environment. This position calls for someone who is able to work on multiple projects concurrently for internal and external clients while meeting project deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with Project Managers and other members of the Development Team to both develop detailed specification/requirement documents with clear project deliverables and timelines, and to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
- Produce project estimates, including expertise required, and total number of development hours required, etc.
- Communicate to the Project Manager with efficiency and accuracy any progress and/or delays.
- Develop innovative, reusable Web-based tools for community building.
- Build new applications as well as maintain existing legacy applications using Cold Fusion and PHP.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in computer science or a related field, or significant equivalent experience
- 3 years minimum experience with (D)HTML/XHTML, JavaScript and CSS - knowledge of object-oriented and AJAX techniques a plus, knowledge of JavaScript frameworks a plus (e.g. jQuery, YUI, dojo, scriptaculous, etc.)
- 2 years minimum Web programming experience with strong server-side scripting skills - examples: Cold Fusion, PHP, JSP, etc.
- 1 year minimum experience working with relational database systems such as Oracle and/or MySQL
- Solid programming skills with a clean crisp style both in coding and also in analyzing business domain problems
- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal
- Solid understanding of and demonstrated ability to apply sound code reuse strategies
- Solid knowledge of and ability to work with best common practices and application patterns - such as MVC
- Experience developing and implementing open source software projects - such as MediaWiki, WordPress etc
- A solid understanding of application development processes and life cycle issues, from requirements, to specification and implementation, to version management
- A solid understanding of multi-tier and layered application technology - from UI techniques to workflow and business application logic to relational DDL and DML (SQL)
- Self-starter with strong self-management skills
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
