Legal Advisor
Basic salary: R270 327.07 per annum (Level 03)
Requirements:
- A 3-year Bachelor of Laws degree
- A Certificate of Qualified to Practice and to be Admitted as an Attorney of the Court
- A minimum of 3 years' relevant experience
- In addition, experience in Labour Law or Local Government will be an added advantage
- A valid driver's licence
- Computer literacy
- Extensive knowledge of Labour Law and Local Government legislation
- Knowledge of policy development, monitoring and evaluation as well as interpretation of statutes
- Knowledge of development and adoption of by laws
- Knowledge of applicable legislation to the Municipality
- Interpersonal skills
- Planning and organising skills
- Knowledge of contract management
- Problem-solving skills
- Communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
- The ability to compile management reports
- Excellent legal drafting and writing skills
- The ability to work under pressure and with minimum supervision.
Key performance areas:
- Provide legal advisory services to the Municipality by providing excellent, accurate and appropriate legal opinion
- Develop, monitor, evaluate and review contracts and other legal instruments
- Interpret statutes and contracts
- Investigate and prosecute or preside over disciplinary matters
- Liaise with the office of the state law advices and the State Attorney in respect of litigation for and against the Municipality.
