Background
The Climate and Clean Air Coalition to Reduce Short Lived Climate Pollutants, the Coalition, is the first global effort to treat short-lived climate pollutants as an urgent and collective challenge. Launched in February 2012, the Coalition is encouraging rapid reductions in black carbon (or soot), methane and many hydrofluorocarbons to protect human health and the environment now, and to slow the rate of climate change within the first half of this century.
The Coalition is a partnership of governments, intergovernmental organizations, and representatives of the private sector, the environmental community, and other members of civil society, that are committed to accelerating and incentivizing action to address key short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs). The Coalition has a membership of 79 Partners as of 10 February 2014 and 10 approved initiatives for rapid implementation
UNEP is a Partner in the Coalition. UNEP also hosts the Secretariat and the Trust Fund of the Coalition in its Division of Technology, Industry and Economics (DTIE) in Paris. For more information, visithttp://www.unep.org/ccac
Responsibilities
A consultant is needed to support and give expert advice to the CCAC Secretariat on communications. Two major tasks are foreseen under this consultancy contract:
1. Upgrade of the CCAC’s website (70%). This is a high priority for the CCAC to ensure that the Coalition (1) can promote its activities, share experiences and especially attract new partners to join; (2) so that the world has easy access to an up-to-date status of the SLCPs globally as well as the latest science; (3) so that partners can access important internal information and tools easily, and (4) facilitate online trainings, webinars, and access to expert advice. The main task of this consultancy will be to oversee the upgrade and the selected candidate will be expected to provide the following ultimate results:
a) User needs assessment
b) A web requirements document
c) Oversee website development
d) User testing and survey
e) User guidelines
2. Support for CCAC communications (30%). The consultant will be required to support the CCAC Secretariat in other more general communications and outreach work. This will include a range of tasks, including updating of the current website. This will also include giving advice to Coalition website (“knowledge platforms”) that have already been built.
Qualifications & experience
The consultant should have a University degree, and at least 5 years of experience in building or managing websites, or project managing their development. The consultant should also have strong knowledge of web-based publishing technologies, content management systems and software platforms for online knowledge and information sharing. He/she should have the capacity to work with colleagues working remotely and in Paris, as well as with a third party hired for specific tasks to build the website.

Languages
For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required.
