Foundation Director

Fondation EurActiv PoliTech is a public service foundation, based in Belgium, dedicated to training independent media, following a Royal Decree of 29 March 2012.  See more About Fondation.
The foundation acts primarily to bring together individuals and organisations seeking to shape or influence European Union policies. Its aim is ‘faciliter l’efficacité et la transparence de la Communauté des Acteurs Européens’, a mission shared with the EurActiv Network.  Fondation EurActiv will be celebrating its 10th anniversary throughout 2014.
Foundation EurActiv has 3 main functions:
  • Supporting media independence
  • EU Journalism Fellowship and Training
  • EU Community & Social Media

Fondation EurActiv is now seeking a Director to provide for the executive leadership of this prestigious organisation.
As a Director you will be in charge of driving and developing activities including event management and fund-raising from grant-making organisations and individuals.
You will apply your knowledge and experience of working with foundations and the media in order to retain existing donors and to develop strong proposals that attract new financial supporters.
The position will be based in Brussels.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage the Fondation on a day-to-day basis: chair the monthly Operations Committee, which prepares and implements most board decisions.
  • Develop strategic thinking and drive implementation of the Event workshops.
  • Actively search for and develop new funding opportunities to finance the EU Journalism Fellowship, EU Community and other projects and units in whole or in part.
  • Report to the Fondation board which has a mix of executive and non-executive directors.
Profile :
  • Proven track-record of working in or with the not-for-profit sector
  • Results-driven and motivated by challenging targets and achievements
  • At least 5 years of experience in event management and/or fund-raising
  • Strong organisational skills, with structured approach to prospecting
  • Hands-on approach, entrepreneurial, team-player, proven people manager
  • Outgoing personality and excellent networker, willing to attend networking events frequently outside office hours
  • Strong understanding of EU policy making process and stakeholders
  • Tech-savvy (internet, mobile, social media)
  • Interested in working as an independent contractor with incentives on results
  • Ideally excellent English, French and German
  • Brussels based
