Job
Assist scientists conducting research in leprosy and related issues (such as disability and Neglected Tropical Diseases):
  • To develop proposals for external funding
  • To conduct networking with potential donor agencies and potential partners
  • To identify appropriate funding opportunities and submit funding applications
Job location
The post holder will work partly from the NLR Office in Amsterdam and partly from home. S/he will need to live within reasonable travel distance of Amsterdam. The LRI Officer will have to travel internationally on a regular basis. A post holder with a foreign nationality will need to have a valid work permit for the European Union.
The LRI Officer will work under the responsibility of the NLR Research Coordinator, and will work together with members of the LRI Steering Committee members, and in particular with scientists who seek funding for leprosy-related research to develop funding proposals and find interested donors.
Profile
The LRI Officer will have at least 5 years of experience and a proven track record of success in institutional fundraising, with an emphasis on scientific research funding. We will give preference to candidates with a master degree and fundraising experience in (public) health, biomedical or social sciences. But candidates with fundraising experience for research in another scientific field are also encouraged to apply. A high level of fluency in both spoken and written English is essential.
Scope and salary
The position is full-time in principle, but applicants who are available for a minimum of 0.8 fte will also be considered. The salary will depend on relevant qualifications and experience.
Timing
Employment will start as soon as possible. The employment contract will initially be for one year, but may be renewable depending on achievements and other circumstances.
