Finance analyst
Open-ended contract to start ASAP, reporting to the Head of Policy Analysis
EWEA is the voice of the wind industry, actively promoting wind power in Europe and
worldwide. It has over 650 members from almost 60 countries, including wind turbine
manufacturers with a leading share of the world wind power market, plus component
suppliers, research institutes, national wind and renewables associations, developers,
contractors, electricity providers, finance and insurance companies, and consultants. This
combined strength makes EWEA the world’s largest and most powerful wind energy network.
Your role
As the Finance analyst, you are responsible for developing, strengthening and
broadening an extensive advocacy network across the finance community, EU institutions and
implement targeted networking strategies to impact the availability and cost of financing for
the wind industry, including offshore.
You facilitate and secure a stable communication channel and networking between the wind
and finance sectors.
You play a key role in increasing and coordinating the wind industry’s engagement with the finance community, including towards EU institutions.
Your duties
Engagement with finance community
- Engage and network with the finance community – commercial banks/emerging investors, such as pension funds, sovereign wealth and insurance funds/private equity investors/public banks/investors and credit rating agencies
- Promote wind energy as a key appropriately risked asset class for the various categories of the finance community
- Educate the finance community on the wind energy industry and regulatory and political risk, to both existing players and new players.
- Organise networking and educational workshops for the finance community and wind industry
- Write policy positions papers, reports and presentations related to his/her specific areas in line with the EWEA strategy to promote the industry to the finance community
- Collect technical information in his/her area of expertise in order to develop consistent and irrefutable arguments aimed at implementing effectively the EWEA strategy
- Engagement with industry
- Engage industry to adopt a more proactive role in engagement with the finance community
- Advise EWEA members on relevant developments and decisions at national and EU level on financial markets
- Build and maintain relationships with key finance players within the wind industry, particularly from power producers, developers and manufacturers
- Advise on content related topics for the organisation of policy workshops in key markets according to EWEA’s strategy
- Answer EWEA Members, colleagues and external audiences queries on his/her relevant area of expertise as well as on wind energy related topics
Engagement with institutions
- Engage with financial institutions such as public banks – EIB, EBRD, World Bank/IFC as well as private investors – hedge funds, pension funds, private brokers and insurance companies.
- Engage with European Commission and national governments on financing issues
- Formulates policy recommendations for the decision-makers to unlock and facilitate investments
- Engages with policy makers on the importance of stable legislative frameworks and their impact on reducing the cost of finance
Other
- Take responsibility for an additional area pertaining to policy analysis and/or political affairs issues within the framework of the EWEA Strategic Priorities
Your profile
- Master degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, European politics and/or Energy
- Two years of experience in finance, financing renewable energy, preferably related with EU institutions
- Fluent written and verbal English is mandatory, other languages are an asset
- Proven ability to manage complex organisational and political relationships
- Detailed understanding of financial sector
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Excellent knowledge of EU and national energy legislation
- Sound knowledge of the EU institutions and decision-making processes
- Strong ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines
- Good time management and ability to prioritize
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills
- Ability to meet short deadlines
- Ability to work in a multicultural and international environment
- Strong supporter of renewable energy
- Self-confidence
- Ability to engage with high level parties
