POSITION OVERVIEW:
ISS, the world's leading provider of proxy voting and corporate governance solutions, is immediately seeking a motivated finance professional with strong accounting experience obtained within an international environment. This role comprises management of all aspects of business finance, including monthly financial reporting to head office (US), statutory financial statements preparation, payroll and general accounting, cash management, corporate income tax and VAT compliance work for ISS in the EMEA region, covering Belgium, France, Germany and the UK.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Preparation of the financial statements of the Belgian, French and UK companies for external audit;
  • Management of the relationship with external auditors in EMEA and timely filing of the financial statements in each country;
  • Income tax and VAT compliance work for the EMEA region, working in conjunction with external tax advisors. Involvement in and management of tax audits as and when they arise;
  • Completing the monthly accounting close process for the 5 EMEA entities in Belgium, France, Germany and the UK (2 UK companies), including payroll accounting, general accruals and prepayments, fixed assets accounting and other aspects of the financial close process;
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reporting data for the EMEA region for inclusion in the consolidated financial reporting package;
  • Preparation of income statement and balance sheet analytics for the region;
  • Management of the regional bank accounts and liaison with external banks, treasury management, cash forecasting;
  • Management of a junior finance team member;
  • Other general accounting responsibilities and finance projects as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • An accounting qualification obtained from a recognized professional accounting organization;
  • A mixture of public and private experience is preferred with a minimum of 8 years in a relevant role;
  • Prior knowledge of US GAAP would be advantageous;
  • Previous experience of working within an international organization and managing cross-border financial reporting;
  • Experience of income tax and VAT compliance across different EMEA countries;
  • High level of analytical skills with an ability to challenge the numbers;
  • Extremely well organized, with a detail oriented approach and hard-working;
  • Excellent language and communication skills, particularly in English and French;
  • Excellent Excel skills with knowledge of accounting ERP systems.
