Human Resources Officer, Budapest, Hungary
Based in Budapest, AdminGroup provides financial and human resource management services to some of the world's largest non-governmental organizations. We are currently seeking candidates for the human resources officer position.
Purpose of Position
The human resources officer will manage the human resources function of the Open Society Foundations' office in Budapest under the supervision of the human resources manager. The human resources officer has responsibility for the entire Human Resources function: administration, employee induction, starters and leavers, policies, recruitment, payroll, employee benefits, employee relations, and employment law.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Be an expert point of reference for managers and members of staff on all Human Resources–related matters; to carry out all Human Resources functions for roughly 180 staff based in Budapest;
- Provide advice on employment issues as they arise, such as disciplinaries, grievance handling, performance management, and team reorganization;
- Ensure legislative and good practice guidelines are adhered to and maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging employment legislation and codes of practice, highlighting any amendments as appropriate;
- Supervise compliance with immigration law;
- Oversee the monthly payroll and manage the employee benefit enrolments, termination, and change of status of employees;
- Work with key stakeholders and departments to ensure effective change management including consideration of Human Resources implications, e.g. restructuring, redundancy;
- Work as part of the global Human Resources team to contribute to and develop policies, processes, initiatives, and services undertaking project work as required;
- Act as the liaison to the HRIS implementation project (Workday).
Education / Experience
- In-depth experience in dealing with and in advising line managers on employee relations issues from grievance to redundancy and from performance management to disciplinaries with limited support;
- Proven experience as a human resources generalist for minimum 5 years;
- Extensive knowledge of Hungarian employment legislation;
- Master's degree in human resources preferred.
Skills Required
- Proficiency in English spoken and in writing is required;
- Knowledge of other European languages is an advantage;
- Ability to work in a diverse multicultural environment;
- Discretion and ability to handle confidential issues.
