Application Engineer – North American Region

Introduction & Job description 
The Atlas Copco Oil-free Air Division wants to be a leading provider of Engineered Compressed Gas Systems into Oil & Gas, (Petro-) Chemical Industry as well as other industries. For that purpose and activity we are in the process of creating a global Systems Application Group.
The Application Group is a decentralized, competent, flexible and coordinated application & project engineering network that supports the Customer Centres in offering, supporting the selling and managing the execution of products from the Systems Group (Compression Systems, Gas Purification Systems, Packaging Systems and future Industrial Gas Systems and Biogas Upgrading Systems).
The Application Group will be made up of regional teams that will cover this activity for the entire globe. For the North American Region (Canada, USA & Mexico), we are looking for Application Engineers.

As Application Engineer you are a:
·Hands on, leading, application engineer with relevant experience that supports Atlas Copco Customer Centres with technical and commercial proposals for engineered compressed gas systems.
·Interacts & cooperates with Atlas Copco Customer Centres, end customers, the other regional Application groups, the Systems Group and various qualified vendors.
·Reports to the Application Manager – North American Region.

Your responsibilities include:
·Support Customer Centre sales channel by evaluating the technical/commercially feasibility of a tender and help to clarify customer inquiries and specifications.
·Review complete request for quotations including all applicable specifications and prepare detailed exceptions as needed.
·In cooperation with sales engineers, establish scope of supply, lead to help define specific product & sales strategy to secure business. Complete, independently, technical and commercial evaluations to provide professional quotations, costing details and consolidated gross profit calculations.
·Prepare and lead detailed technical presentations and bid clarification meetings.
·Lead detailed hand over meetings with the project engineer / project execution team.
·Liaise between the customer centres, System Group entities, qualified vendors and end customers during the life of the project.
·Keep a running detailed project log current with necessary details to track quoting activity, status and results. Review log regularly with regional team and Systems Group entities’ management.
·Take responsibility for CGP% and proposal hit rate.

Mission 
·To lead the process of offering, supporting the selling and supplying engineered compressed gas systems in compliance with customer and application requirements, making deviations and comments where required.
·To support customer centres selling to the Oil & Gas, (Petro) Chemical Industry and other segments.
·To ensure project proposals offered meet customer requirements while realising a maximum consolidated profitability.

Experience requirements 
·Minimum of 5 years experience in a proposal engineering role or equivalent.
·Direct experience with oil & gas industry and its customers is preferred, multicultural international sales a plus.
·Experience with API standards and specifications an advantage.
·Experience with and understanding of commercial terms and conditions.
·Experience dealing with engineering consultants and high spec. industry companies would be an asset.
·Experience reading/interpreting mechanical/electrical CAD drawings.

Knowledge & Competence 
·Good command (verbal and written) of English and ideally Spanish. Command of other languages are an advantage.
·Good presentation skills.
·Strong technical and commercial knowledge of engineered gas compression systems.

Educational requirements 
·University degree - technically oriented or similar through experience
