The Energy Division Chief will manage a team of qualified professionals and will be responsible for INE's operational activities in the energy sector, with the primary objective of increasing IDB's lending volumes and effectiveness in the sector (public and private). Such expansion is expected to be accompanied by measures to: (a) improve the quality and increase the effectiveness of the underlying projects; (b) develop new and innovative instruments and lending modalities to fit the clients' needs and thus achieve the higher lending targets; and (c) ensure that all operations are designed and implemented under the highest standards of environmental and social parameters.
Alongside a Master’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration or related fields (Ph.D. preferred) you should bring at least 10 years of experience in the energy field (in planning, regulation and institutional framework, and supervision in public or private sector). Proven management record in similar positions, preferably in Latin America and/or the Caribbean, including supervision of technically strong multidisciplinary teams.Notably, you will possess demonstrable expertise in project planning and execution, proven ability to bring together public and private sector energy networks. At the same time, you will need a strong record of publication, significant exposure to developing countries and flair for leading dialogue with diverse stakeholders, plus deep commitment to continuous improvement and innovation. Finally, it is vital that you are fluent in both Spanish and English, and you will ideally have some command of French or Portuguese.
