Job Profile
Sandvik Canada, Inc. seeks a Bilingual Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to co-ordinate country wide EHS initiatives, in partnership with the divisional EHS leads, who are responsible for their specific Business Unit (BU) EHS programs.
Key Performance Areas
This role is responsible for promoting a holistic approach to EHS for Sandvik Canada, including:
  • co-ordination, training and roll out of country-wide EHS programs which are not BU technically specific
  • providing expertise on program development and maintenance – AODA, OHSA and related legislative requirements, crisis management, emergency preparedness and risk assessment
  • being a central resource for cross country, generic, EHS initiatives
  • providing insight and input on disability, return to work and Workers Compensation claims and case management
  • acting as the EHS representative for country common functions (HR, Finance, Purchasing, IT)
  • leading the EHS committee for Sandvik Canada, Inc.
  • health and wellness initiatives
Your Profile
  • Related education preferably a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental Sciences or the equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in a Health and Safety Specialist role
  • Bilingualism French/English is preferred
  • Joint Health and Safety Committee Member Certification
  • Understanding of legislative requirements and Provincial OH&S Acts
  • Demonstrated experience with policy development as well as training program creation and roll out
  • Exemplary communication skills
  • Previous experience liaising and collaborating with a diverse workforce in a global, matrix organization structure
  • Development and promotion of Health and Wellness initiatives
  • Knowledge of Emergency First Aid or First Response
