Sessions Officer For AIDS 2012

Washington, DC has been chosen to host the XIX International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2012), the largest international meeting on HIV, where every two years 25,000 participants representing all stakeholders in the global response to HIV meet to assess progress and identify future priorities. AIDS 2012 is organized by the International AIDS Society (IAS), in partnership with government, scientific and civil society partners in the United States and international partners from civil society and the United Nations. Based in Geneva, Switzerland, the IAS is the world’s leading independent association of HIV professionals. The AIDS 2012 Conference Programme seeks to promote scientific excellence and inquiry, encourage individual and collective action, foster multisectoral dialogue and constructive debate, and reinforce accountability amongst all stakeholders. Sessions will focus on the latest issues in HIV science, policy and practice and will also seek to share key research findings, lessons learned, best practices, as well as identify gaps in knowledge. The conference will feature abstract-driven sessions, a daily plenary session, a variety of symposia sessions, professional development workshops, and independently organized satellite meetings. In addition, the conference programme will include a number of programme activities, such as the Global Village and the Youth Programme, which are an integral aspect of the International AIDS Conference. The Sessions Officer is a full-time position that will start on 1 March 2012 and last until 31 August, 2012. The IAS is seeking an AIDS 2012 Sessions Officer, starting 1 March 2012, to support the Programme Development department. The position will be full-time, based at the IAS offices
