Position Summary
The position is a part of the HSSE functional team and provides advice for all Occupational Health (OH) related issues. The position holder is responsible for assisting in preparation and delivery of the annual OH improvement plans.

You will provide input to and thereafter manage the UKU Health budget, as well as managing the fitness centre and staff, offshore medics and the topside medical cover contract.

Develop the health management systems and procedures to meet the operational requirements of UKU and ensure professional practice is delivered to best practice standards.

Provide clinical support as part of the day to day needs of the client population, including management of ill health at work.
Key Accountabilities
Responsible for all Occupational Health related issues:
• Ensure that UKU complies with legal requirements and industry best practice in all OH matters.
• Co-ordinate the development of the health risk assessments and monitor controls and close out of action plans.
• Proactively manage UKU health risks.
• Conduct onshore pre-placement assessments & ergonomic assessments in line with DSE legislation.
• Conducts private medical consultation and referral where required.
• Monitors, evaluates and follows up on health assurance activities.
• Develops and manage the annual health plan, health initiatives and contributes to health strategies.
• Audits and manages external third party work with regards to OH.
• Provide expert technical advice towards the projects on OH issues and may lead on corporate projects.
• Works closely with other UKU departments as required to ensure correct management of all staff health related matters, such as sickness and absence monitoring and management, stress and mental health care, fitness for and return to work etc.
• Deliver health related training and awareness where appropriate.
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute

• Experience of delivering an Occupational Health service for similar companies.
• Experience of operational and strategic issues.
• Knowledge of OH risk management.
• Occupational health nurse, preferable on the third part of the NMC register.
• Knowledge of OH legislation and applicable requirements.
• Must be fluent English, both oral and written.
• Ability to influence and interact at all levels to improve OH management.
• Consultancy, networking and communication skills.

Additional Information for External Candidates
• The job is based in Aberdeen, but some domestic and international travelling will be required, including offshore. (Offshore medical & survival will be required)
• Occasional out of office hours working may be required to support medical emergency or emergency response/crisis management issues.
