Director of E-Assessment Transformation

The adoption of new technologies within education is accelerating rapidly. ACCA is at the forefront of these developments and is undertaking an ambitious multi-year programme to convert its accountancy qualifications to an e-delivery model with student support available from a range of channels including e-learning.

In this new and exciting opportunity you will lead the projects to introduce greater flexibility and workplace relevance to the ACCA Qualification whilst retaining the integrity and rigour on which it is founded. The e-delivery programme, set up in late 2009, has recently entered its delivery and implementation phase. This programme will transform the ACCA Qualification and how ACCA interacts with employers, learning providers and students. You will provide strategic guidance and direction to the work being undertaken in e-qualifications and e-learning to ensure that the student experience is coherent and educationally valid and the assessments are directly relevant to the work of a professional accountant. This will encompass not only designing the new assessments and learning support around those assessments, but also overseeing the transition from the current paper-based examination process.

Responsibilities will include:
  • ensuring the e-Delivery programme meets its educational objectives and delivers the projected benefits for e-learning and e-qualifications.
  • line Management of the subject matter experts working full-time within the e-learning and e-qualification projects
  • actively monitoring the educational developments across the professional and Higher Education communities to ensure that ACCA is able to capitalise on the latest innovations in learning technologies.
  • acting as an ambassador for ACCA and its move to e-delivery with external stakeholders including regulators, employers and learning providers. Making the case for the educational validity of e-assessment
In order to meet the demands of this challenging and high profile role you will:
  • be a graduate, preferably with a post graduate qualification in education.
  • have experience at a senior level of the educational development, delivery and award of professional qualifications or similar
  • have experience of a large scale change from pen and paper examination system to computer-based assessment, preferably on an international basis.
  • have a good understanding of the business issues associated with the programme i.e. understand the scope and scale of the changes brought about by this change in assessment both inside the organisation and externally.
  • have an awareness of the broader perspective and how it affects the programme e.g. be aware of the competitive position and of advances in the field of computer-based assessment for professional education in particular demonstrate your ability to:
    • apply intellectual rigor and creativity to problem-solving
    • innovative, within regulatory constraints
    • create trust and influence
    • sustain drive and enthusiasm over the long term of the programme
