UNICEF, the world’s leading organization working for the rights of children, seeks a Director, Policy and Strategy, D-2, Division of Policy and Strategy, New York.
Purpose:
To lead the work of the Policy and Strategy group in New York, which includes the functions of statistics and monitoring; analysis, policy and advocacy; and organizational planning, reporting and guidance.
This function will enable UNICEF to continuously track global development trends that may impact children; to advise and assist the Executive Director and his Deputies in reviewing strategic options and assessing opportunities and options, and developing policy positions based on analysis and evidence; to coordinate UNICEF’s long-term and medium-term planning; to monitor and report on organizational performance; and to provide policy and programmatic guidance.
Minimum Requirements:
Advanced University Degree in International Affairs, Political Science, Law, Economics, Public Policy, Social Studies and/or related interdisciplinary subjects
Fifteen years of experience in international development, with a focus on policy issues, half of which in senior management position, preferably in a large multilateral or bilateral organization, with at least five years of working experience in programmes in developing countries.
Fluency in English. Knowledge of one or more UN languages an asset.
