| The International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, is the largest multilateral provider of financing for private enterprise in developing countries. The Corporate Business Technologies Department (CBT) is the Information Technology department within IFC. CBT provides flexible, robust and secure IT solutions and services to enable IFC to achieve its mission and business objectives in all IFC locations worldwide. An opportunity exists within CBT for a Chennai ODC – Data Warehouse Lead to join this dynamic team and contribute to the continued success of the department’s work program. The selected candidate will be a key member of CBT’s Applied Technologies group, reporting to the Chennai ODC – ADM Lead, sharing responsibility with Data Warehouse Lead, HQ. His/her primary responsibility would be to act as the key contributor to Enterprise Data Warehousing Center of Excellence at the offshore captive center through alliance with onsite Technology & Engineering team. He/she is expected to work as the ODC subject matter expert for Data Warehousing design / development / architecture, facilitating technical guidance to the technical team working for multiple IFC projects. | |
| Duties and Accountabilities: | |
| The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: • Act as the offshore lead for running full lifecycle Data Warehouse solutions as well as enhancements to existing stack of enterprise data warehouse components. • Liaise and work closely with the onsite EDW Lead / Team to understand business needs, technical opportunities and enterprise principles around EDW components to steer the offshore team as well as related development and support activities. • Ensure offshore teams are fully aware of and follow established standards, principles and guidelines for the various technologies used within the EDW space. • Coordinate with the on-site EDW Lead to remain updated of the pipeline of tasks and participate in planning delivery. • Liaise with onsite project managers and provide regular status reporting of offshore activities and milestones. • Facilitate technical guidance for Data Modeling, EDW Design & development team, as well as provide hands-on support to design / development team on developmental projects. Prominently participate and guide the team during root cause analysis of issues and support requests. • Provide input to the development of data / information quality metrics. • Provide input to standards, policies and procedures for EDW practice. • Provide coaching, guidance and training to team members. May recommend training programs targeting specific areas of improvement. • Manage vendors, assign activities, and coordinate efforts during the development and support of IT solutions. Ensure vendor staff responsibilities are clear. Provide direction, prioritization, and guidance on project activities to meet project targets. • Initiate and facilitate alliance with EDW Knowledge forums (i.e. TDWI, DAMA, etc.). • Travel to IFC country offices / client locations to attend requirement gathering sessions, solution & design discussions. | |
| Selection Criteria: | |
| • Master’s degree, preferably in Math, Computer Science or Engineering, and a minimum of five years’ relevant experience with at at least 4 years of hands-on Data Warehouse designing & architecture (including Data Modeling) and at least 2 years of managing EDW solution delivery / support. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. • In depth knowledge and experience in developing and implementing EDW on proven RDBMS platforms like Oracle, Sybase, Microsoft SQL Server. • Proven experience in providing services in the areas of enterprise data warehouse, operational data stores, data marts, in memory business analytics, business reports, dashboards and other business intelligence solutions. • Very strong data modeling skills to cater to multiple flavors of Data Warehousing solutions, Operational Data Stores as well as advanced analytics data repositories. Conceptually strong with Data Transformation & Data Movement strategies, architectures and technologies, and their practical application to add business value. • Very strong competency around advanced EDW infrastructures and DW appliances. • Strong conceptual knowledge around different Data Integration approaches and recent development in the field of data Virtualization. • In depth knowledge of data warehousing design methodologies and service oriented architecture. Ability to translate the complexities of IT in a manner understood by non-technical executives. • Ability to be hands-on in the implementation, debugging and support of the various systems that make up IFC’s Data Transformation & Data Movement architecture. • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS Visio, MS PowerPoint). • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment. • Eagerness to mentor junior staff. • An advanced degree in the area of specialization is preferred. • Candidates are also required to have at least three full lifecycle BI projects involving multi-location clients, varied domains (of which one needs to be Financial Services), involving multiple technologies.
