Event Coordinator

BiD Network Foundation seeks a BiD Event Coordinator to organize the Growing SMEs Event and BiD Week in The Netherlands in November 2012. The BiD Event Coordinator reports to the Growing SMEs Event Manager and is part of the Event Team. The Event Team in turn is part of the BiD Network Advisory Services.

Since 2010 BiD Network has developed its advisory services to upscale the direct support to entrepreneurs in developing countries. Part of the advisory services is the organization of business plan competitions in 17 developing countries together with its international partners. The best entrepreneurs who win those competitions during spring and summer 2012 are invited to the BiD Week & Growing SMEs Event Netherlands 2012.

During the BiD Network Week around 50 high-potential entrepreneurs from emerging markets will be invited to the Netherlands to follow trainings and business-to-business meetings in order to prepare their business for investment and the Growing SMEs Event.

The Growing SMEs Event is called “Growing SMEs à Connect. Exchange. Invest.” It is a conference and a marketplace with approximately 400 guests during which entrepreneurs can pitch their business and products to potential financiers and other interested parties. There will be an inspiring opening speech followed by a mini conference during the morning. In the afternoon, elevator pitches will be organized and awards will be given to the best entrepreneur. Additionally meetings will be set up for the invited entrepreneurs with potential investors, entrepreneurs and other interested parties. Additionally, trainings, group activities and workshops may also be offered.

The job

  • Coordination and management of the BiD Week and Growing SMEs Event;
  • Take logistical management responsibilities during the BiD Week and Growing SMEs Event;
  • Arrange and conduct the logistics and project administration;
  • Work independently and in a team together with the Event Manager;
  • Support the Event Manager with administrative tasks;
  • Book flights for the international partners and entrepreneurs;
  • Prepare, arrange and manage the program and activities during the BiD Week;
  • Prepare a personalized schedule for each BiD Week participant and staff;
  • Support the Event Manager with finalizing a financial report for the BiD Week, Growing SMEs Event as well as a narrative evaluation report afterwards;
  • Additional tasks to support the growth of our organization besides the event management tasks may be requested.

Qualifications

  • Proven event management skills;
  • Ability to work in a team;
  • Financial skills to administer the BiD Week and Growing SMEs Event budget;
  • Very efficient, reliable, flexible and open-minded personality
  • Ability to multi-task and to respond to unforeseen circumstances
  • Experience with working with entrepreneurs and SME investors, preferably from developing countries;
  • Experience with working in an inter-cultural working environment
  • Comfortable with flexible working hours;
  • Higher education diploma;
  • Fluent in English and Dutch, Spanish/or French;
  • Able and willing to travel.

Location: Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Duration: 8-month contract with a 40 hour-week. One month prior and during the BiD Week and Growing SMEs Event it might be necessary to work longer hours.
