About the role
Our Centre for International Justice will establish a physical presence in The Hague in order to sustain and strengthen AI's ongoing efforts to campaign for an effective system of international justice. As our Head of Office you will have overall responsibility for managing the Centre for International Justice and will act as a liaison and representative of AI for relevant actors and platforms in The Hague specializing in international justice, such as at the ICC. The Head of Office will build relationships to enable the work of the Campaign, develop and implement a strong communications strategy, initiate and contribute to the production of authoritative publications and reports while strengthening the advocacy network by managing a visitors program for lawyers, human rights activists, representatives of AI’s sections and structures, and other partners of AI working on international justice issues.
About you
As an expert in the area you will have extensive knowledge of international human rights, humanitarian, and criminal law with substantial experience of the workings of the ICC and related international organizations. As an experienced high level advocate and representative you will bring to the role a strong background of working on international relations issues and your sound understanding of the relationship between international politics, human rights and international justice.
But not only will you have this expertise in the relevant international law aspects; what will truly set you apart are your management skills. You will have successfully led teams, managing and ensuring delivery to a demanding and challenging programme of work, often in high pressured environments. You are will have strong communication and networking skills, with fluency in English and ideally in French.
