Milieu Ltd is a dynamic consulting firm based in Brussels striving for excellence in international and European policy and law – primarily with respect to environmental protection but also in such fields as climate change, fundamental rights, public health, consumer protection and health and safety. We provide our expertise mainly for European institutions and other public sector clients.

We are seeking to recruit an impact assessment specialist to join our policy team. Thorough knowledge of the European Commission’s impact assessment guidelines and related documents is required. Experience using cost/benefit analysis and other quantitative techniques are necessary, as well as substantive experience in policy analysis and evaluation. Excellent writing skills in English are also particularly important. Knowledge of the EU institutional architecture and working methods would be a plus.

Knowledge of European environmental policy and expertise in economics of climate change and the environment (including valuation techniques) would also be useful.

Key qualifications for the position:

• Masters degree or higher in Economics or a closely related field (a scientific or engineering background is also acceptable, provided there is experience using quantitative techniques for policy analysis);
• Minimum 3 years prior work experience in impact assessment and/or policy analysis;
• Flexible, hard worker, team player;
• Well-organised and able to prioritise a busy and varied workload;
• Excellent written and spoken English. Good knowledge of other European languages is a plus;
• Strong writing skills. Experienced in drafting reports in English;
• Good computer skills, including Word and Excel.
