Milieu Ltd is a dynamic consulting firm based in Brussels striving for excellence in international and European policy and law – primarily with respect to environmental protection but also in such fields as fundamental rights, public health, consumer protection and health and safety. We provide our expertise mainly for European institutions and other public sector clients.

We are looking for a full-time mid-level legal associate with a strong EU law background to support our busy staff. We are currently carrying out a range of challenging projects for our clients, including studies on particular topics related to environmental law and policy. The legal associate will work closely with the other 15 lawyers on our staff to carry out a range of legal research and analysis. The position will also include some project management, including quality assurance for the work carried out by our junior lawyers and outside experts, and support for business development activities.

Key qualifications for the position:

• At least a masters degree in law, with a strong focus on the EU legislative framework. College of Europe or similar training definitely an asset, as well as a genuine interest in public law, including environmental and/or fundamental rights issues;
• Minimum 5 years prior work experience;
• An independent, self-starter personality;
• Well-organised, practical-minded and able to prioritise a busy and varied work-load;
• Excellent written and spoken English; knowledge of other EU languages desirable;
• Good writing skills.
