Marketing Assistant

The General Secretariat directs all the administrative and financial aspects of the Union's activities, including the implementation of the provisions of the administrative regulations on operational questions, the dissemination of information on telecommunication matters for operational and other purposes, the provision of legal advice to the Bureaux of the Union and the departments of the General Secretariat, logistic support to the Union's activities including conferences, the coordination of the work of the Union with other international organizations, the dissemination of information to the Member States and Sector Members, press, corporate and individual users of telecommunications and the general public. The General Secretariat is also responsible for the organization of world telecommunication exhibitions and forums.
Organization Unit:
The Conferences and Publications Department is responsible for ensuring communication between people involved in ITU activities and for the dissemination of ITU products, through its conference services (conference organization and logistics), language services (translation and interpretation in the six official languages, précis-writing, terminology and reference services) and documentation and publications services (text capture and text processing, electronic document management, publication composition, reproduction and distribution of paper and physical electronic products, and sales and marketing).
Duties / Responsibilities
In the Conferences and Publications Department, under the supervision of the Head of Sales and Marketing Division, the incumbent will perform the following tasks:
  • Acts as Focal point for all marketing needs of the Division comprising of branding, packaging and formatting;
  • Manages the maintenance and the updating of the publication sales website with continuous improvement in relation to other similar state of the art websites through periodic web audits aimed at customer friendly navigation and order processing;
  • Manages the maintenance and updating of e-catalogues for the sales of ITU publications as well as POS/POP material for resellers and ITU shop, and also coordinates development of the ITU souvenirs range for the shop;
  • Maintains relationship/contact with existing outside Licensees/third-party partners focusing development of sales revenue;
  • Carries out periodic market and customers surveys and research to improve customer service, delivery, packaging, handling, pricing and other related elements. Guides and advises Sales/CSS team in the light of the results to upgrade their services;
  • Assists the Division Head in the development of other revenue generating activities;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure the success of the team.
  • Qualifications required
    Education:
    Complete secondary education with a diploma OR complete equivalent technical or commercial studies with a diploma; PLUS advanced training in the field of the post OR its equivalent in instructions, training and experience.
    Experience:
    At least ten years of experience in marketing & sales, managing and developing third-party relationship, new business opportunities, marketing services and media support. (A maximum of three years of studies in the field of the post and in a recognized school may replace the required experience on the basis of one year of education for one year of experience.)
    Languages:
    Knowledge of English or French at advanced level and knowledge of the other language at intermediate level. Knowledge of a third official language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish) would be an advantage.
    Competencies:
  • Good knowledge of SAP system.
  • Good knowledge of Excel.
  • Knowledge of various marketing support softwares.
  • Mature and tactful in dealing with outside partners/third parties.
  • Remuneration
    Annual Salary: (Net of Tax)
    90,042.- CHF - 119,762.- CHF without dependants
