Sales Assistant

The General Secretariat directs all the administrative and financial aspects of the Union's activities, including the implementation of the provisions of the administrative regulations on operational questions, the dissemination of information on telecommunication matters for operational and other purposes, the provision of legal advice to the Bureaux of the Union and the departments of the General Secretariat, logistic support to the Union's activities including conferences, the coordination of the work of the Union with other international organizations, the dissemination of information to the Member States and Sector Members, press, corporate and individual users of telecommunications and the general public. The General Secretariat is also responsible for the organization of world telecommunication exhibitions and forums.
Organization Unit:
The Conferences and Publications Department is responsible for ensuring communication between people involved in ITU activities and for the dissemination of ITU products, through its conference services (conference organization and logistics), language services (translation and interpretation in the six official languages, précis-writing, terminology and reference services) and documentation and publications services (text capture and text processing, electronic document management, publication composition, reproduction and distribution of paper and physical electronic products, and sales and marketing).
Duties / Responsibilities
In the Conferences and Publications Department, under the supervision of the Head of the Sales Development Service, the incumbent will perform the following tasks:
  • Establish and maintain regular contact with all customers, ensuring timely assistance in all business matters;
  • Register new customers based on Divisional objectives, by prospecting through email, telephone or personal contacts;
  • Participate to the introduction, promotion, sell/cross-sell new and existing publications to existing and potential customers;
  • Provide qualitative analysis of markets as a resource to business development and projection of sale trends;
  • Collect information of prospective customers for analysis of needs in relation to ITU and ICT industry;
  • Provide assistance in the preparation of Annual Sales Development Plan and the preparation of Sales objective;
  • Bring to the attention of Sales Officer any information that can lead to business development;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure the success of the team.
  • Qualifications required
    Education:
    Complete secondary education with a diploma OR complete equivalent technical or commercial studies with a diploma.
    Experience:
    At least five years of experience in sales & marketing, prospecting, managing and developing customer relationship. (A maximum of three years of studies in the field of the post and in a recognized school may replace the required experience on the basis of one year of education for one year of experience.)
    Languages:
    Knowledge of English or French at advanced level and knowledge of the other language at intermediate level. Knowledge of a third official language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Spanish) would be an advantage.
    Competencies:
  • Good knowledge of SAP System.
  • Mature and tactful in dealing with outside partners/third parties.
  • Remuneration
    Annual Salary: (Net of Tax)
    75,093.- CHF - 99,863.- CHF without dependants
