In addition to its investment work in the LAC region, IFC is providing Advisory Services aimed at specific aspects of private sector development, including supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, enhancing access to finance, improving the investment climate, supporting privatization and public-private partnerships and promoting environmental and social sustainable practices. The scope of the A2F program in LAC is based on the following areas of work: • Retail and Micro: including Microfinance, Mobile Financial Services, Housing Finance, Rural Finance, Responsible Finance and Insurance. • SME and Business: SME Finance, Sustainable Energy Finance, Agrifinance, Leasing, Trade Finance, Gender, Risk Management and Corporate Governance. • Financial Infrastructure: Credit Bureaus, Collateral Registries and Secured Transactions, Securities Markets The scope of the Access to Finance (A2F) program in the Caribbean is based on the institutional strengthening for financial institutions serving the SME and micro segments, including risk management, portfolio management, corporate governance and mobile banking. IFC A2F LAC is looking to recruit an experienced Operations Analyst to support the Access to Finance team in managing its growing portfolio of advisory projects for financial institutions (FIs) in the Caribbean. | |
| Duties and Accountabilities: | |
| The Operations Analyst (OA) will support the Caribbean team in the business development, design and management oversight of projects. Furthermore, the OA will be responsible for compiling information on current and upcoming projects and synthesizing that information to produce a range of documents. Thus, research and writing are the two primary duties to be performed by the OA. The OA will assist with: 1. Project reporting requirements. The OA will help prepare, review and edit required project reports to ensure complete information, logical coherence and effective communication. This also involves managing and updating IFC project management systems. 2. Report preparation. The OA will support the Caribbean team in developing reports, including client proposals as part of business development efforts; donor reports in line with existing donor grants; newsletters to report on project progress; and proposals to procure donor support for selected projects. Report preparation will include identifying report requirements, conducting supporting research, and actively participating in writing the report. 3. Project documentation. The OA will work with the project team to produce other project-related documents in response to identified needs. Such documentation may include, but will not be limited to, concept notes, progress reports, outcome/impact summaries as well as case studies and papers describing project/program outcomes and impact. 4. Monitoring & Evaluation. M&E is a core part of all projects. The OA will support the Caribbean team and work jointly with the M&E team in order to define and design the proper indicators for project monitoring and evaluation. 5. Ad-hoc assignments. Where time and resources permit, the OA may collaborate with other staff on special projects that might be assigned by the Senior Operations Officer for the Caribbean. | |
| Selection Criteria: | |
| Candidates should comply with the following criteria: • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Development, Economics or related specialty; Master’s degree preferred. • Minimum three years experience working in the development sector, preferably in the financial sector in microfinance, SME banking and/or in consulting firms providing technical assistance to banks and/or microfinance institutions; • Knowledge and experience in the design, preparation, implementation and monitoring (project cycle) of technical assistance projects. • Proven ability and experience in report writing, project proposal preparation and analysis. • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Spanish essential; French desired. • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidentially, articulate issues and recommend solutions. • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Dynamic, persistent, self-motivated and a doer. • Ability and willingness to perform task management with limited supervision. • Ability to deal flexibly with multiple, changing demands.
