Professor of Economics

The Hertie School of Governance is an international teaching and research centre of excellence that prepares students for leadership positions in government, business, and civil society.

We are looking for a scholar who can combine state-of-the-art research in either micro- or macro-economics with the teaching profile and research agenda of a public policy school. Candidates should have a strongly applied perspective in at least one field of economic research, such as international economics and finance, development, industrial organization and regulation, health, education, labour markets, environment – or any other relevant field of economic policy-making.

Candidates are expected to fulfil the following criteria: (i) an excellent track record in international publications and research (depending on rank), (ii) applied and policy relevant work, (iii) a strong interdisciplinary interest.

The level of compensation of the position will be in line with the candidate’s qualifications. We particularly welcome applications from talented scholars at the beginning of their academic career, but all levels of qualification will be considered.The Hertie School aims at building a diverse faculty and particularly encourages applications from non-Germans and female candidates.

The Hertie School of Governance is located in the same complex as the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin). An affiliation to the DIW Berlin is possible.
