Technical Officer Wetlands International
Position: Technical Officer, Water Management
Reporting To: Conservation Programme Manager
Work Location: Wetlands International South Asia Office,
New Delhi
Overall Job Purpose
The incumbent will coordinate implementation of water management components of all WISA projects. Additionally, he/she will work with the WISA team for implementation of the overall WISA regional strategy, specifically leading on the targets related to water and climate change. The position is based in WISA Office, New Delhi but would require frequent national and international travel.
Roles and responsibilities
• Act as the focal person for water management and climate change related initiatives of WISA
• Within projects, the role and responsibilities include any or all of the following: a) providing inputs to hydrological assessments within wetlands and catchments; b) supporting setting up hydrological monitoring systems; c) liaising with experts and multi-disciplinary teams; d) assessing ecological and socioeconomic impacts of hydrological projects; e) monitoring and evaluation; f) reporting; g) development of policy and other communication briefs and, h) training and capacity building.
• Support project development on wetlands, water management and climate change in line with the regional strategy
• Support policy and advocacy on issues related to wetlands , water management and climate change
• Support communications and outreach on issues related to wetlands, water management and climate change
Essential qualifications
• M. Tech or Equivalent in civil engineering / hydrology/ water resources management/ planning or related disciplines
• Minimum five years experience in handling water management projects, especially related to hydrological assessments
Desirable qualifications
• Knowledge of GIS and remote sensing applications
• Knowledge and application of Strategic Environmental Assessments
Remuneration
Commensurate with the qualifications and work experience of the candidate.
