Shell's Upstream International Middle East Region looks after assets in the Middle East and North Africa, with key existing operations in Oman, Abu Dhabi, Egypt, Iran, Oman, Iraq and Kuwait. We are currently exploring further opportunities in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Turkey and are also represented in Tunisia, and Algeria. The businesses of the region represent a mix of (1) mature assets in countries like Oman,and Egypt with robust cash generation and a key focus on Operational Excellence and Competitive Costs, as well as (2) an unprecedented number of growth opportunities in Iraq, Enhanced Oil Recovery in Oman, as well as significant exploration potential.
The region is characterized by both its wide geographical/cultural spread and the complexity of the business relationships with host Governments and JV partners. With the exception of some of the exploration projects and Iraq Majnoon, none of the Shell's business in the region is "Shell-operated'' in a conventional sense. Within Shell, the region provides one of the best opportunities to achieve growth, and on an unprecedented scale. Business dimensions reflect activities in some 15 countries.
We're currently looking to recruit a Well and Reservoir Management Regional Manager based in Dubai, with possibility of spending time in Muscat, Oman.
Responsibilities:
You will be accountable for delivering the Well and Reservoir Management (WRM) improvement programme and for facilitating compliance by the regional ventures to the WRM standards. You will achieve this by:
Planning the deployment of the WRM programme using the appropriate strategies according to the nature of the various ventures,
Performing WRM asset assessments,
Providing support to develop WRM improvement plans, setting milestones, advising on resource requirements and reporting progress,
Participating/Leading technical reviews/audits,
Advising ventures on best use of LEAN methodology to create a continuous improvement culture and close gaps to best–in–class WRM performance, and
Supporting Global efforts to improve WRM across Shell’s business.
In addition, you will be accountable for providing technical assurance to venture governors for the wells and reservoir surveillance.
Requirements:
You must have a Bachelor Degree or higher in related technical field with extensive working experience in diverse operating environments within the oil & gas industry. You have strong subsurface and/or production engineering credentials with senior leadership level exposure in petroleum engineering (development management) or operations (asset) / production management in an operating, mature field environment. You have worked in organizations with global reach and have a deep understanding of the workflows linking the relevant technical disciplines, particularly within the sub-surface disciplines. It is essential that you have front line experience as a WRM practitioner. You also must have experience in modeling systems and/or reservoirs, production system optimization and is able to demonstrate competence in broad range of surveillance technical skills.
You also possess an excellent grasp of delivery across the upstream business value chain and have proven track record as a leader and supervisor. Ideally, you will have an appreciation of the LEAN methodology and the leadership behaviors needed to successfully implement LEAN across the business. Previous working experience in Change Management will be advantageous. You must also demonstrate the ability to work as a member of multifunctional team. It is also important for you to have proven experience in coaching and mentoring and have skills in developing others.
