Eurometaux is the Brussels-based association representing the European non-ferrous metals industry. It maintains an open and constructive dialogue with the European authorities and international or intergovernmental bodies in all areas of policy and legislation affecting the non-ferrous metals industry and its products, in order to ensure early consultation and to promote the industry’s views and positions.
Eurometaux seeks to recruit an:
Expert in Energy & Climate Change Policy (M/F)
Eurometaux, the association representing the European non-ferrous metals sector, is seeking to recruit an Expert (M/F) in Energy & Climate Change policies. He/she will lead the related Eurometaux activities and report to the Director General of the organisation.
Responsibilities:
  • Organise and manage the Eurometaux Energy & Climate Change Committee;
  • Monitor developments in energy and climate change legislation and policies relevant to the industry, inform members and organise responses as appropriate;
  • Analyse such developments and draft position papers if necessary;
  • Develop and execute advocacy on main priorities in close coordination with the members;
  • Coordinate positions and advocacy with national and other European industry associations;
  • Represent the association vis-à-vis the European Commission and other European institutions,;
  • Support individual metals sectors and companies on specific cases if required;
  • Act externally on issues of relevance to the European non-ferrous metals sector.
Skills & competencies:
  • Relevant university degree (preferably a degree in economics, law, or political science);
  • Strong professional experience (minimum 5 years) with similar EU advocacy campaigns;
  • Well-developed understanding of the functioning of EU institutions;
  • Established personal network inside EU institutions;
  • A good knowledge of the constraints of energy-intensive industries would be an asset;
  • Strong, result-oriented personality with excellent organisational, communication and presentation skills;
  • Ability to work autonomously in a small team;
  • Efficient in communication with colleagues, members, European Commission and Member State officials;
  • Commitment to the significance of industry for Europe;
  • Excellent English (both spoken and written); other major European languages would be an asset;
  • PC-literate (MS Office).
