GRANTS MANAGER - Wits Reproductive Health And HIV Institute (WHRI)

The Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute (WRHI) is a leading African academic research institution as part of Wits University working in the fields of reproductive health, HIV and other infectious diseases. WRHI has its headquarters in Hillbrow, Johannesburg.

The successful candidate will effectively lead the financial and grant management aspects of projects and/or programmes within WRHI, including sub-agreement management, including but not limited to contract management, review of monthly financial reports and invoices and ensuring compliance with donor rules and regulations.

He/she will:
• Develop and maintain project and programme budgets in line with objectives/outputs • Take responsibility for all financial and grant management aspects of (donor) contracts, including the adequate resourcing of projects and programmes • Liaise with donors • Monitor project and programme expenditure against budgets • Liaise with key staff across Institute Programmes and Departments to enhance understanding and therefore compliance with project and programme contracts and budgets • Ensure compliance with WRHI policies and procedures.

Requirements:
• A BCom (Accounting) or an equivalent qualification in the related field (Master’s would be advantageous) • At least 5-7 years’ experience in grant management in a donor-funded environment • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of NIH USAID and EU rules and regulations • Basic legal knowledge with regard to contracts • Excellent interpersonal skills • Effective team skills • Analytical thinking • Attention to detail, paired with a holistic view • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Advanced computer knowledge (specifically Outlook, Word and Excel) • A driver’s licence and the ability to travel if required.
