Position of Locally recruited: Junior Accountant

The Borlaug Institute for South Asia (BISA), an international organization managed by CIMMYT (International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center) invites applications for the position of Junior Accountant (Nationally Recruited Staff). The incumbent would be responsible for day to day accounting and finance operations. The position is initially for a fixed term of 3 years subject to satisfactory completion of probation period (1 year) and subsequent renewal based on satisfactory performance and availability of sufficient funds.

Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Maintain daily and updated cash book;
  • Prepare financial statement/report for day-to-day expenses;
  • Make payments for local purchases upon approval from the supervisor;
  • Reconciliation of the advances given to local staff members;
  • Compliance of tax deductions at source of vendors;
  • Maintenance of asset and transfer registers of moveable & fixed capital items and communicate with head office through Officer Incharge;
  • Make logistic arrangements for organizing workshops, conferences and travelling seminars;
  • Supervise maintenance and updation of log books for BISA/CIMMYT vehicles;
  • Ticket booking and other logistic arrangements;
  • Manage office stationary and other inventory and maintain proper records for their receipt and usage.

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in finance, accounting or similar;
  • At least 5 years of experience in financial accounting with a reputed organization;
  • Working knowledge of English and local regional languages at duty station.

Professional Competencies:

  • Excellent computer skills on accounting softwares such as QuickBooks, and computer software MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access and Power Point etc.;
  • The candidate should have a proven track record of successfully managing finances;
  • Planned and organized approach;
  • Strong self motivation and innovative skills;
  • Demonstrated good communication and organizational skills and ability to work under pressure;
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively in diverse, multicultural partnerships.

Job Location:

  • At BISA sites in Ladhowal, Punjab; and Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

Emoluments:

  • Salary is negotiable and based on qualification and experience (Please indicate your expectations).
