Scientist IV, TCR

As a critical thinking partner collaborate with category leaders to define innovation opportunities based on market/consumer insight and product understanding, to build R&D technology pipeline; Drive impact and sustainability by enhancing our current tools and techniques resulting in enhanced efficiencies and success of our clients with the potential to reduce costs.

Be responsible for the project management of sensory and consumer research including the design, test preparation and execution of studies in support of research and development. Specifically, the senior scientist will determine appropriate research methodologies, coordinate tests, interpret results and provide recommendations, reporting results orally and in written documentation.

Key Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Leverage technical expertise across the supply chain to identify key product and quality opportunities

2. Collaborate with category leaders and work with cross-functional teams to identify TCR needs to support category research & development work, build into category pipeline/project plan and TCR annual plan;


3. Must be an effective influence manager capable of getting the clients to do the right research at the right time thereby increasing the client’s success rate.

4. Provide technical support to project teams by utilizing sensory science and consumer research/insight information for effective and efficient product, process, packaging and equipment development, including research plan for complex project, research design based on project understanding, research execution, and result interpretation/recommendation, translating research findings into action based on alignment with development teams.

5. Screen, qualify and track research agency’s capability and performance, manage research agency in terms of timing, quotation, technical training, leverage research agency’s capability;

6. Introduce, develop or validate new methods based on collaboration with research agency, KO global TCR community;

7. Maintain good internal and external network, import and export good ideas/best practice with global TCR community;

Related Job Requirements/Qualifications:
• Proficient knowledge in the area of quantitative research, including creation of the research design, implementation and data gathering, data analysis, and trend analysis, interpretation, implications and next steps.
• Sound knowledge of sensory and consumer testing techniques and principles including a deep understanding of descriptive analysis (DA) and the relationship to consumer data to identify sensory drivers of consumer liking.
• Working knowledge of statistics including the appropriate use of statistical techniques to analyze and interpret data (including parametric and non-parametric methods, ANOVA, and modeling tools) and the design of experiments (DOE). Good knowledge and experience in statistical software (such as SAS, SPSS, Design Expert, Compusense etc) is preferred;
• Demonstrates strong working knowledge qualitative research techniques and research-on-research applications.
• Demonstrates proficiency in technical risk assessment used to identify, evaluate and mitigate project risks with a strong working knowledge of franchise and opportunity risk profiles.
• Demonstrates solid skills in the process of leading others as a result of expertise in specific area of discipline. This includes serving as a technical mentor and resources for others.
• Good communication skills including ability to write concise, informative reports and verbally present complex technical information to non-technical audiences. Ability to listen and identify project objective and influence research plan.
• Experience/ability to train PD, Marketing, K&I about TCR tools including how and when to use them
• Proven track record identifying and building relationships with research suppliers

Ability to make strategic conclusions to guide the product, process or package developers based on analytical and consumer data.

Develops novel solutions to identified and defined problems by collecting and analyzing information.

10~15% travel.


Educational Requirements:
BS degree or above in Sensory Science, Food Science or other Related Area e.g., science, technical. At least 8~10 years experience in consumer or sensory research.
