WWF Global Climate and Energy Initiative, Chief Operating Officer

Location:

WWF European Policy Office (EPO), Brussels, Belgium or (flexible location for internal applicants)

Main responsibilities:

  • Leads financial management for the GCEI, ensuring that annual budgets, expenditures and financial forecasts are accurate and consistent with annual and long-term plans, and are prepared, implemented, monitored and reviewed per WWF standards;
  • Advises the GI Leader on operational matters, including finance and organization;
  • Ensures effective and timely contract management, adherence to WWF standards on procurement, and appropriate framework agreements with external suppliers;
  • Leads fundraising for the GCEI, ensuring development, implementation and monitoring of annual and multi-year fundraising strategies that adequately support GCEI programmatic goals;
  • Leads reporting, monitoring and evaluation for the GCEI, ensuring accurate, timely, quantitative and qualitative reporting to GCEI donors, and ensuring M&E results feed back into GCEI learning and strategy development processes;

What you need:

Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of five years management experience, involving teams of three or more employees, as well as accountability for budget, fundraising, HR, reporting and M&E.
  • Demonstrated success in financial management and fundraising;
  • Strong knowledge of and demonstrated interest in environmental, social and/or development issues;
  • International experience, particularly from developing countries;

Required Skills and Competencies
  • Excellent management, planning and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in virtual and cross-cultural teams;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English; other languages an asset, particularly Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin Chinese;
  • Strong understanding of and adherence to principles of transparency and anti-corruption; and
  • Adheres to WWF’s values, which are: Knowledgeable, Optimistic, Determined and Engaging
