Accounting Manager, Domestic Accounting , Washington DC


Essential Responsibilities
Accounting Manager will be responsible managing the day-to-day operation of the Domestic Accounting department. Ensure timely and efficient accounting processes while maintaining accuracy and proper control procedure.
Supervision of Accounting Staff. Oversee day to day domestic accounting operations (review and posting payables, release wires, ACH payments and process checks; review employees expense reports; accounting for indirect cost and direct cost for federally funded activities). Responsible for the maintenance of general ledger and subsidiary ledgers. Responsible for month end close (adjusting journals, bank reconciliations, balance sheet account reconciliations. Responsible for fixed assets accounting, deferred rent and accruals. Assist in preparation of monthly and periodic financial and management reports, ad-hoc reports as necessary and required by management and donors. Assist in annual budget preparation. Assist in daily cash management functions. Assist in annual financial and A-133 audits. Prepare annual 1099 and 1096. Update and promote foundation policies, control and procedures. Projects and other duties as may be assigned by Controller and Assistant Controller. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Possess strong accuracy, attention to details and ability to follow-through. Possess exceptional time management skills. Highly organized with abilities to prioritize and multi-task, with ability to work under pressure, meet multiple deadlines, and troubleshoot and problem solve. Excellent interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy with the ability to interface with staff, other administrators, internal and external “customers”, vendors, senior management and willing to be part of a diverse team. Strong ability to work independently under department deadlines in a team environment Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise discretion and sound judgment. Knowledge of Great Plains. 10-key by touch, required. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Required Qualifications
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Current or recently used knowledge of Microsoft Business Solutions (Great Plains Dynamics). Accounting Degree (CPA a plus), with minimum 5 years accounting experience with at least 2-3 years as Accounting Supervisor/Manager. Status
