Job Summary

The IT Officer is responsible for discharging any IT related tasks and maintain proper network and internet access.

Duties and Responsibilities

1) Administer network workstations, utilizing one or more TCP/IP or non-TCP/IP networking protocols in ACSI.
2) Evaluate and/or recommend purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software.
3) Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions in coordination with ICT Specialist.
4) Install, configure, and maintain personal computers file servers, Ethernet networks, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices, and systems; adds or upgrades and configures modems, disk drives, data acquisition boards, CD ROM units, printers, and related equipment. 
5) Perform and/or oversee software and application development, installation, and upgrades.
6) Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
7) Develop and conduct various training and instruction for system users on operating systems, relational databases, and other applications; assist users in maximizing use of networks and computing systems in ACSI.
8) Identify utilization patterns and their effect on operation/system availability and performance expectations. 
9) Anticipate communication and networking problems and implement preventive measures in coordination with ACSI ICT change management team. 
10) Establish and perform maintenance programs following company and vendor standards. 
11) Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability via ACSI distribution groups. 
12) Document network problems and resolutions for future reference. 
13) Provide desktop computer support.
14) Coordinate the creation, modification, and removal of user accounts.
15) Attend and participate in campus IT Officer Meetings.
16) Coordinate virus protection software programs within departments.
17) Coordinate the installation of software patches and upgrades.
18) ACSI CO hardware and software platforms meet the corporate standards and the CO Key business processes.
19) Provision of advice on maintenance of equipment and acquisition of hardware supplies.
20) Monitoring of the computing resources to provide a stable and responsive environment;
21) Operation of network utility procedures defining network users and security attributes establishing directories, menus and drive-mappings, configuring network printers and providing user access.
22) Identification of opportunities and ways of converting business processes into web-based systems to address the issues of efficiency (e.g. office management systems, donor profile software, knowledge management systems). 
23) Organization of training for the CO and provincial staff on ICT issues. Synthesis of lessons learned and best practices directly linked to ICT management. 
24) Excellent knowledge of PC/LAN operating systems, Microsoft Windows, corporate ICT security and viral protection systems, knowledge of web design, knowledge of Microsoft Windows network administration.
25) Manage the configuration and installation of servers in a LAN environment in accordance with set procedures and policies.
26) Ensure that all computers are protected for viruses and that all relevant updates and upgrades are applied regularly.
27) Any other duties as required.

Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree/ graduated in Information systems, Information Management, Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE(
• 3 years of relevant working experience is required.
• Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of: Microsoft operating systems including workstation and server. Working knowledge of wireless systems; LAN and WAN technologies. Skilled in: using office personal computers, printers and related software such as Microsoft Office,
• Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, backup software, antivirus software.
• Experience with Cisco products is desirable.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience supporting Windows 2003/2010 domain infrastructures.
• Experience in Microsoft active directory, IIS server and WSUS is desirable.
• Experience with Microsoft Exchange 2007/2010 is desirable.
• Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Must be capable of working within a team environment and interfacing with other departments and/or groups
• Proven ability in problem identification and troubleshooting in a fast paced and changing environment.
