The Organisation
QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets.

We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel.

QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors. 
Position Summary
The incumbent liaises with plant operations to facilitate the testing of samples complying with company standards and procedures.
Key Accountabilities
Core Accountabilities

Position Specific
• Prepare samples and perform a variety of laboratory analyses in a safe, efficient and cost effective manner.
• Execute shift plans for operation of the laboratory ensuring the laboratory is presented in at least the minimum acceptable standard.
• Plan and conduct activities including calibrations, pre start checks, standard checks and routine maintenance with minimal impact to operations.
• Complete data entry and reporting requirements.
• Undertake sampling as required as per standard sampling techniques
• Ensure the required housekeeping tasks are completed as per the schedule.
• Monitor the critical process sample results for plant operations and respond accordingly.
• Perform your work according to the documented procedures. Identify opportunities to improve best practice and communicate to your leader.
• Identify any issues that could affect instrument reliability and trouble-shoot where competent or communicate to your leader.
• Install and commission new equipment, develop operating procedures and competency assessments.
• Ensure the availability of chemicals, equipment, glassware and spares for the lab. Control the inventory, storage of items and timely replenishment.
• Maintain high standards of accurate communication during the day and at handover.
• Develop a symbiotic relationship with production and maintenance employees within Midstream Operations.

People Management• The incumbent must adhere to the annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Needed
 
• Five years experience in a continuous chemical process or hydrocarbon production laboratory environment or similar
• Commissioning laboratory equipment and establishing new laboratory processes is advantageous
• Significant experience operating, maintaining and troubleshooting instrumentation. Gas Chromatography experience is advantageous.
• Experience using LIMS, Microsoft Office Suite, SAP
 
Knowledge, Languages,
Skills and Attributes
 
• Relevant tertiary or certificate level qualification in Chemistry
• Ability to work under pressure with reliability and accuracy
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Comfortable working in a small team
• Maintain enthusiastic approach whilst working in a routine and repetitive work environment
• Excellent computer skills
• Proactive approach to your work and able to plan and prioritise work
• Strong commitment to safety and environment
• Proactive in contributing to continuous development of work processes and procedures
