The Organisation
Our assets in Trinidad and Tobago are vitally important to BG Group, with gas being supplied to the domestic market and fed into Atlantic LNG for export, primarily to North America. We supply gas to three of four LNG trains at Atlantic LNG in which we are also a shareholder. This represents fully integrated projects involving production and liquefaction, shipping and re-gasification for onward sale into the US market. Our current exploration focus is the phased development of the North Coast Marine Area.
Position Summary
The Inspection Engineer role is critical to ensuring adherence to the Asset Integrity Management Standard and local regulatory requirements. This ensures the safe and reliable operation of various equipment at both the on-shore and off-shore assets requiring the individual to plan, execute and report inspection related activities and provide feedback and assessments on equipment integrity and fitness for present and future service, utilizing engineering standards, codes and engineering guidelines on pressure vessels, tanks, piping, PSV’s, tanks and lifting equipment (Statutory equipment -Cranes, davits, hoist, monorails).
The position dictates that the individual champion both short and long term inspection campaigns specific to topside piping, Internal Inspection of pressure vessels, tanks and PSV’S to the relevant stakeholders as it relates to shut-down requirements and for the asset’s various 2 and 8 year plans.
The role is critical to Asset Integrity as the position identifies and advises on the priority replacement or repair of equipment i.e. vessels, process/utility piping and fabric maintenance of critical equipment to the operation engineering support and maintenance department. The position allows for the review and approval of welding procedures to support operations and maintenance task.
Currently the role functions as the operations authority for all topside mechanical Inspection across the various assets.
In addition to the above the position requires the managing of inspection budgets and CTR’s, inspection and testing contractors and consultants.
Key Accountabilities
Required to develop and execute the Asset Integrity Assurance plans and strategies for Mechanical Equipment, piping/pipelines, structures, vessels, PSVs, etc.
Provide technical support and decisions to onshore and offshore personnel on Mechanical Technical Integrity matters. These include:
- Review of Welding Procedure and Specification
- Assess Equipment remaining life and fitness for present and future service (Piping, Pressure Vessels ,Tanks ,PSV’s)
- Manage Finite Element Assessment (FEA) for aging equipment with anomalies that cannot be assessed utilizing a Level 1 or Level 2 FFS assessment
- Identify from inspections and advise on the repair and replacement of static equipment and associated time-lines
- Provision of Fabric Maintenance QA/QC to Maintenance team. 
 
To ensure field compliance with Asset Integrity strategy documents namely Asset Integrity Management System, Written Schemes of Examination and inspections mandatory by law. These include:
- Managing NDE activities and Contractors at the various assets specific to operations- Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Inspection, Dye Penetrant Testing , Radioactive Testing, Eddy Current, IR Thermograph and Advance Non-Intrusive Inspections techniques across all assets
- Responsible for all inspection campaigns across all assets-Piping, Vessels, PSV’s
- Responsible for all Annual Statutory Inspections for Pressure Vessels and Lifting equipment across all assets
- Lead internal inspection of Vessels and Tanks across all assets
- Lead equipment failure analysis across all assets
- Identify and champion shut-down related inspection scope and equipment replacement identified from inspections
To ensure Quality Control and Quality Assurance of inspection and related project activities.
To develop and manage long-term contracts with key inspection and maintenance contractors.
Ensure compliance with BG T&T and BG Group corporate policies and procedures, management of change procedures, asset integrity indicators and QA/QC processes, via audits, reviews and continuous monitoring.
To assist in the maintenance of the Asset Integrity Management Database Systems, such as GWMS in addition to IAPS, WMS.
To lead in the evergreening and Maintenance of the Risk Based Mechanical Inspection (RBMI) management software and data base (Capstone) inclusive of the management of International consultants.
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
• A B.Sc/M.Sc. Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Certifications in Welding ,NDT, Inspection (Piping, Vessels, Tanks)
• Experience in Facility Operations, Mechanical and Inspection Engineering. Experience within the Chemical, power or Oil and Gas Industries would be an asset.
• Project Management skills and experience.
• Comprehensive understanding of Mechanical and Inspection Engineering principles and their applications, and an appreciation of the other relevant engineering disciplines.
• Comprehensive understanding of Codes and Standards as they pertain to Vessel and Tank inspections/repair and Piping inspections/repair, PSV inspection and testing.
• Working knowledge and understanding of Written Schemes of Examination, Risk-Based Inspection techniques, Non-destructive Inspection Techniques.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Core Mechanical and Inspection Engineering principles and application
• Welding and Material Engineering principles and application - Certified Welding Inspector
• NDT–UT,MPI, LP,RT etc
• QA/QC- Fabric Maintenance
• Certification - Certified Piping Inspector, Certified Tank Inspector, Certified Vessel Inspector
• Plant Integrity Management Knowledge - equipment fitness for service assessment, equipment remaining life assessment, weld repairs to vessels, tanks and piping, risk based inspection, identification of various causes and effect of equipment damage due to in-service conditions and design
• Corrosion damage mechanism and control
• Excellent knowledge of Engineering code and standards (API, AWS, ASME,ANSI, ASTM,BS etc), local regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
• Condition monitoring and equipment operation.
