RwandAir Finance Manager



As RwandAir continues to grow, reposition and expand, is recruiting a qualified Finance Manager to help achieve its objectives.
  1. Reporting
You will report to the General Manager Finance and Support Services.
  1. Duties and Responsibilities
Your primary functions in the accounting department of the Airline will be, inter alia, to ensure an up to date and accurate management accounts are produced and full administration of the entire finance department. To carry out the foregoing, you will have to ensure among other things that:
Primary functions
  • Prepare timely all accounting and financial reports for initial review by the CFO and subsequently presentation to the Board of Directors.
  • Prepare and control the budgets both operational and forecasts.
  • Maintain daily cash flows and periodical forecasts
  • Treasury: ensure vendors are paid on time
  • Responsible for proper accountancy of all Airlines’ assets and liabilities.
  • Development and/or upgrading of all financial policies and procedures
  • Coach, induct and train departmental staff.
  • Play a major role in effective performance cultural change.
  • Formulate, coordinate, review and implement the Financial Procedures manual.
  • Ensure that all laid down policies, procedures and rules are followed and enforce disciplinary actions in the event of defiance by any staff in the Finance department
  • Internal Control:- Internal control System:- Set up internal control system in the following areas
  1. Receiving and stores
  2. Payments both petty cash and cheques payments
Secondary Duties
  • Evaluate performance of staff under the department -Periodical Appraisals
  • Administration of the entire accounts both financial and otherwise.
  • Fixed Assets Register: maintain the Fixed asset register and monitor the following summaries in the fixed asset schedule
  • Cost price of the asset
  • Depreciation and correct rates applicable in the various asset classifications
  • Net Book value
  • Ensuring that both payables and receivable ledgers are updated daily,
  • Ensure continues reconciliations of both receivable and payables ledger with statements and general ledger control accounts.
  • All over due accounts are pursued for payment.
  • Ensuring that there is monthly stocktaking and that stocks are reconciled to the General Ledger.
  • Reconciliation of various control accounts to the nominal ledger for review at the monthly management accounts meetings.
Other responsibilities
  • Liaise with the external Auditors, during the year end and any impromptu audit that may arise within the cause of the year
  • Attend periodical management meetings.
  • Be part of the policy formulation of the Airline.
  • Participate and be part of the interviewing panel of the senior management of the Airline when requested.
In addition to the foregoing you will carry out any other duties that may be assigned to you by your superiors from time to time.

  • Recognized for business acumen in areas of finance, planning, forecasting and managing personnel and identifying and addressing business issues;
  • High level of demonstrated initiative and decisiveness
  1. Required Education and Experience:
  • Accounting designation such as CA, CPA and at least a Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years experience in a leading Finance Role with 5 years experience in Airline Industry.
