 £36,695 - £39,285 p.a.

As a Senior Media Officer in our News & Current Affairs unit you will help position ActionAid as an effective and influential voice on global poverty and human rights. By providing specialist expertise on news and current affairs you will raise our profile and reach within target audiences. This will involve working with senior journalists and editorial staff to deliver highly impactful and influential news and current affairs content in broadcast, print and online in a pressurised work environment. You will develop strong relationships with external public affairs, PR and media practitioners as well as contribute to the development of a strategic and forward-thinking media relations programme.
It is essential that you have substantial experience of working in media relations, print or broadcast journalism in a national, high profile organisation, coupled with a demonstrable track record of success in obtaining influential media coverage. You will be able to show good political and news judgement as well as knowledge of current affairs - complemented by a high level understanding of the media landscape in general. With a good contact network, you will be an effective project manager having the ability to effectively manage frequently changing and conflicting priorities on a daily basis.
