Environmental, Health and Safety Manager

European Aluminium Association (EAA), the European association representing the aluminium industry value chain in Europe, is looking for an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager to support the EHS Department. 

Please note that this is a one-year contract. Ideally, the candidate should start as soon as possible.

Job description

The EHS Manager will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring and prioritizing the development of legislative and non-legislative initiatives, with special focus on human health and environment, impacting the European aluminium industry;
  • Developing consensus-based policy positions in coordination with the internal stakeholders, supporting the related advocacy towards EU institutions and other external stakeholders;
  • Coordinating a number of Working Groups composed of experts from member companies/associations;
  • Representing EAA in Working Groups and other initiatives set up by other organisations;
  • The EHS Manager reports to the EHS Director, but closely collaborates with other EAA departments.

Essential skills

  • Scientific or engineering university degree, preferably related to chemistry, environmental chemistry, industrial hygiene or similar;
  • Minimum 3 years in EHS-related subjects working in the EU government and/or trade association and/or manufacturing corporation;
  • Experience in assessing human and/or environmental toxicity of substances, industrial hygiene and risk assessment is an advantage;
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, and ability to achieve consensus when dealing with multiple stakeholders;
  • Fluent English is required and other European languages are desirable.
