We are seeking an Executive Director who will be based in London to provide leadership and strategic direction for Fit for Work Europe.

The Fit for Work EU initiative is a multi-country research and multi-stakeholder platform aiming to reduce and prevent the burden of musculoskeletal conditions (MSDs) in Europe by developing and implementing practical solutions that support people with MSDs in maintaining work or returning to work, and by seeking to drive policy and clinical practice change at country level through national industry, academic, government, and medical collaboration (for more information visit www.fitforworkeurope.eu).

The Executive Director will be critical to the success of the project by providing direction to the teams, being responsible for project deliverables agreed in the workplan, maintaining and expanding links with European and National stakeholders including the National Fit for Work Coalitions. One of the key objectives is to ensure the adoption of programme recommendations into European and National policy as well as clinical implementation. The role requires excellent leadership, strong organisation and networking skills to establish and build strong partnerships with key stakeholders including high-level policymakers and international associations with health professionals and employers.

Although the post will be based at The Work Foundation’s offices in London, frequent travel to continental Europe should be expected, flexible working arrangements are available.

The post is full-time (35 hours p.w.) and fixed term until December 2013 with a possible extension to December 2014 subject to funding.
