Global Sector Coordinator RENEWABLE ENERGY
Based in Burkina Faso – Ouagadougou
(International contract)
Over the last two years SNV has deepened its work in three selected sectors: Agriculture; Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) and Renewable Energy/Climate Change (RE). Within the Renewable Energy sector SNV will contribute to 1) increased access to sustainable, clean and reliable energy sources for households and small enterprises and 2) the development of a vibrant renewable energy sector with an adequate enabling environment.
SNV recently undertook a major organizational change to drive SNV`s focus towards these three key sectors. In the new organizational set-up SNV is now looking for a Global Sector Coordinator, who would like to take on the challenge of supporting the Managing Director Sector Renewable Energy in positioning and profiling SNV’s sector Renewable Energy at a global level. The Global Sector Coordinator will play an important role in the implementation of sector steering within SNV and will report directly to the Managing Director Renewable Energy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Leads global sector strategy development in order to ensure outstanding results and a high level of quality in Renewable Energy;
  • Oversees implementation of projects and programmes working closely with the Country Directors and Sector Leaders Renewable Energy;
  • Outlines and implements sector oriented performance standards and benchmarks to ensure high quality of performance in Renewable Energy;
  • Supports Business Development in securing funding by providing sector information, updating market- and donor intelligence and conducting quality assurance checks for proposals;
  • Maintains relationships with relevant global stakeholders including partners and customers to improve and retain the market position of the Renewable Energy sector;
  • Stimulates internal and external knowledge exchange geared at practice development;
  • Represent SNV at international events when appropriate
  • Lead and guide external communication within overall SNV Renewable Energy Strategy
  • Works closely with the Sector HR Advisor for Renewable Energy to ensure continuous professional development of staff by providing advice on recruitment, mobility and learning and development plans;
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Academic degree in relevant discipline;
  • Proven track record with over 10 years of experience in Renewable Energy in a competitive context, including advisory work and knowledge development;
  • Strong personality with experience how to influence in a matrix organization;
  • Strong speaker, writer and debater with experience in profiling in an international setting;
  • Strong network within the respective sector including customers, partners etc.;
  • Sound experience within knowledge development, organizational learning and innovation;
  • Solid experience in Business Development
  • Entrepreneurial, result-oriented and driver for change;
  • Flexibility to move to another duty station in West Africa within one year; 
  • Fluency in English (both spoken and written). Fluency in French is a plus.
Description of duty station:  Ouagadougou
Security situation: Good
Medical situation: reasonable
Accessibility: Good, daily flights to Europe and other countries in the region
Communication: Good telephone, e-mail and internet facilities
Education: Good primary and secondary schools (French school and American international school)
CONTRACT INFORMATION
Starting date: ASAP
Length of contract: 2 years, with possible extension
