BBC Newsgathering is at the heart of BBC News providing news reports, pictures and audio material to all BBC News programmes and services both in the UK and internationally. It provides content for television, radio, online and interactive services which is of the highest possible editorial and technical standard which in turn provides the best value for money for BBC audiences. It has to ensure that in the face of increasing competition, the BBC is the world leader in broadcast newsgathering at the forefront of both the range of editorial coverage and technological innovation.

Role

You'll be a general reporter voice for World Service Radio in the newsroom, willing and able to provide pieces for the bulletin and World Briefing at short notice on developing news stories from around the world.  The reporter also needs to be proficient with audio retrieval and editing systems as a significant part of the role is pulling together the best actuality in a coherent way for the audience.

Requirements

You'll be an experienced journalist and have a thorough knowledge and experience of foreign news and international reporting as well as the ability to write for radio.  You'll have radio packaging skills as you will be broadcasting for radio often with little notice, with an authoritative voice and style. You'll also have some experience of breaking news stories and the ability to apply this knowledge to the circumstances in the newsroom.
