FIDH Delegate to the U.N
The delegate shall carry out the activities of the FIDH Delegation in Geneva and shall be accountable to the FIDH Executive Director, under the supervision of the FIDH Director of IGO activities and of the FIDH representative. The delegate shall have the following duties and responsibilities:
A. Implementation of activities of the FIDH Delegation:
A.1 Contribute to human rights mechanisms of the United Nations and its diplomatic missions by providing information on FIDH and its member and partner organisations (position papers, referrals, institutional meetings, etc.).
A.2 Keep track of evolving and current events at the U.N. and inform the FIDH geographic and thematic desks of advocacy opportunities.
A.3 Participate in discussions on interface strategies and organise the participation of FIDH member and partner NGOs with political contact people and human rights protection mechanisms at the United Nations in Geneva (contribute to the preparation of terms of reference, receive human rights defenders, assist with the preparation of advocacy documents, participate in interface meetings).
A.4 Together with the Communications Department, ensure the distribution of documents from the U.N. political interlocutors and mechanisms to the representatives of the member states and the media.
A.5 Together with the Communications Department, capitalise FIDH activities in contacts with the key actors and the public at large.
A.6 Participate in planning and reporting the activities of the FIDH Delegation, in particular by regularly updating the annual activities monitoring table and by preparing interface data sheets and activities reports.
B. Facilitate interaction with internal and external actors
B.1 Contribute to sharing information on the respective strategies and activities of the desks and delegations with the geographic and thematic desks and with other delegations, and contribute to sharing information with external partners.
B.2 Contribute to strengthening ongoing interaction with the FIDH member organisations (facilitate the reception and support of these organisations).
C. Participate in administrative tasks and logistics
D. Participate in training for interns and volunteers
Profile: At least three years professional experience in the field of human rights, in particular, substantial practice in multilateral advocacy and lobbying. Type of education: Masters in law, international relations, human rights or political science. Fluent English and French. Knowledge of Spanish would be an advantage.
Conditions: Full-time one-year contract under Swiss law - Salary: according to experience
