Program Manager – LeveUp Project (Standards For Digital Security Trainer)


This project falls under the Internews ‘Internet Initiatives’ portfolio under the direction of Vice President –ICT Policy and Programs. The Director of ICT Programs will have overall responsibility and ensure that LevelUp conforms to all DRL performance standards as well as monitoring interactions with other Internews projects. Management and planning of project activities will be the full-time responsibility of the Program Manager – LevelUp (PM); subgrants and contract monitoring will be provided by a designated Program Associate. The PM will be aided by the Senior Technical Advisor and Technical Advisor. The technical advisors will help design and participate in all major project events. Project monitoring and evaluation in conformance with the PMP will be a joint team effort, managed by the PM and assisted by Internews’ Program Development Unit. Two representatives from NDI will closely coordinate all NDI activities with Internews, especially in the areas of community/private sector outreach and training, respectively.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned:

  • Establish an advisory board
  • Provide for the assessment of past trainees
  • Coordinate establishment of a proviate wiki to support the development of content and community
  • Facilitate outreach to private sector and tool developers
  • Facilitate development of “nerd merit badges” for graduates and trainees
  • Organize and implement:
    • Curriculum development and validation
    • Two Training for Trainers (ToT) Training event
    • ToT follow-up including post-training survey

  • Management subgrants to TTC, Engine Room, and NDI
  • Oversee specific projects or departments
  • Assist in programmatic development and project support for future programs
  • Write, edit, prepare proposals/ reports/ budgets
  • Research and develop new partnerships and funding opportunities
  • Work with implementation teams on related initiatives
  • Prepare correspondences and reports from local conferences and discussion panels
  • Write reports for primary donors in collaboration with staff
  • Carry out research as assigned and in support of ongoing projects and new initiatives
  • Represent organization at various conferences and events

  • 4+ years programmatic experience or relevant advanced degree
  • Experience working in the digital security field
  • Experience working with ICT programs and policy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Program management experience
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple on-going assignments
  • Relevant university degree required
