SUMMARY: Relief International is currently recruiting an Education Specialist for an anticipated multi-year, USAID-funded Education in Crisis Project.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides leadership, management, and technical assistance for education programs in conflict and crisis affected environments in areas such as: conflict-sensitive programing approaches, nonformal/alternative education, formal basic education, gender, child/youth protection, youth and conflict, youth development, youth livelihoods, education for displaced populations, safe schools, crisis prevention, disaster risk reduction, emergency preparedness, education policy, delivery and management of education services, management information systems, data management, planning, teacher training and professional development, literacy and numeracy, community engagement, workforce development, organizational development, capacity building, vocational/technical training, tertiary education and research, student assessment, learning outcomes, monitoring and evaluation, and knowledge management.
QUALIFICATIONS: • 10+ years of demonstrated experience in management and technical assistance for education programs in conflict and crisis affected environments • Experience delivery and management of education services preferably on USAID programs. • Experience in program design and implementation particularly targeting socio-economically marginalized communities in complex emergency and post-conflict settings. • Ability to live, work, and travel within crisis areas • Previous experience in crisis areas • Fluency in English required • Excellent diplomatic, interpersonal, and communication skills. • Demonstrated decision making, problem solving, and team building ability. • Experience with civil society and community-based approaches is preferred.
