Job Description:
We are seeking to identify a suitably qualified Specialist in Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Programs who would be interested in a potential consultancy assignment to contribute to a recovery programme for Syria. The work will be based in Turkey but may require travel in the region and to Syria when the security situation allows.
In particular we are looking for individuals with the following experience:
  1. At least 10 years of experience in managing Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Programs in post-conflict countries for a major international organization or NGO with donor support.
  2. Knowledge of and experience in designing food-for-work and cash-for-work programs.
  3. Experience in capacity and risk assessment of implementing partners for DDR Programs.
  4. Good knowledge of project cycle management in emergency aid and/or development cooperation.
  5. Knowledge of and experience in project evaluation techniques.
  6. Familiarity with the socioeconomic context of the Syria and/or neighboring countries.
  7. Ability and readiness to work and live in an off-capital environment on the Turkish-Syrian border.
  8. Ability and readiness to travel frequently, including field trips to Syria if and when the security situation allows.
  9. Fluency in spoken and written English
Additional advantages:
• Access to a Civil Society Organizations in Syria, including International NGOs with field presence in the country. • Experience in working in Syria and/or neighboring countries. • Working knowledge of Arabic.
