Licensed Aircraft Engineer, London Heathrow (several locations)

Full Time, Permanent, Shift Work

Job Purpose
 
The goal of Engineering is to be the preferred provider of competitive Aircraft Maintenance services to British Airways and its valued customers. To achieve this we’re looking for people who thrive in an engineering/mechanical environment and can demonstrate they are professional, skilled and take pride in both their work and workplace. You’ll also need to have a EASA B1 or B2 AME Licence plus current authorisation for at least one of the following: Boeing 747, 767, 777, 787 or Airbus 319, 320, 321 or 380.
 
As a LAE you’ll be the technical leader of your team and work with colleagues, such as the Fleet Shift Manager, who you report to, to deliver the maintenance product to agreed timescales, quality and budget criteria whilst ensuring full compliance with all regulatory and British Airways procedures.
 
You’ll be responsible for delivering all planned and ad-hoc maintenance tasks within a shift by effectively supervising and allocating resources, equipment and other assets to the fullest extent of the qualifications you hold.
 
The ability to foster, support and implement an environment based on professionalism and continuous improvement is key to success.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Responsible for the completion of all planned and ad-hoc maintenance tasks Provide technical team leadership within a given shift
  • Ensure qualifications and authorisations are current on all aircraft types within own work area
  • Ensure your team fully comply with environmental and Health & Safety regulations/ guidelines.
  • Manage ‘airmanship’ standards, including compliance with regulations and company procedures to ensure continued airworthiness of the aircraft
  • First line people management and development: e.g. team and individual coaching, performance management and career development
  • Knowledge of, and input to, British Airways employment policy procedures e.g. disciplinary, attendance management, performance management and grievance.
  • Meet productivity and cost targets
  • Explore and implement continuous improvement opportunities
  • Support and implement change initiatives to increase unit performance
  • Role model and maintain effective communications within the shift / team

The Individual

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following skills and capabilities:-
  • Hold an EASA B1 or B2 AME Licence
  • Hold current authorisation for at least one of the following: Boeing 747, 767, 777, 787 or Airbus 319, 320, 321 or 380
  • Sound knowledge of EASA / CAA / FAA airworthiness regulations
  • Full, current UK driving licence with no more than 3 penalty points
  • Decision-making
  • Strong analytical and problem solving
  • IT skills, including use of or ability to learn SAP
  • Health & Safety and Environmental legislation: understanding of and ensuring compliance with
  • Role model effective team leadership and development skills
  • Understanding of employment policies and processes
  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to comply with airport restricted zone access security requirements
  • Enthusiasm and self-motivation
