Sector Specialist: Mineral Processing

The North West Development Corporation (SOC) Ltd is an organisation that promotes industrialising the economy, attracting investments, promoting exports and overcoming the legacy of economic imbalances. The NWDC has the following three-year fixed-term opportunities:
Platinum Valley Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Sector Specialist: Mineral Processing
NWDC Rustenburg Branch
Salary negotiable
Reporting directly to the Project Executive, the incumbent will be responsible for the development implementation of the sector and investment strategy for the proposed mineral processing hub.
Key performance areas:
  • Develop a comprehensive Mineral Processing strategy and framework for the proposed mineral processing hub
  • Identify strategic value chains and industries to anchor the proposed SEZ
  • Develop and implement strategies and programmes for the prioritised value chains and clusters
  • Provide investment facilitation and support for the proposed SEZ
  • Market and promote the SEZ
  • Oversee the development of feasibility studies and research projects for the proposed SEZ
  • Prepare, package and implement strategic investment projects
  • Prepare budgets, authorise and monitor expenditures to ensure they remain within the approved budget parameters, and recommend changes to budgets when required
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned by the Project Executive.
Requirements:
  • Minimum: Master's in Engineering, preferably in the field of Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering
  • At least 5 years' experience in the mineral processing and/or mineral beneficiation industry and/or a research and development or product development environment with private sector experience preferred
  • Sound knowledge of mineral beneficiation industry (markets and technology) trends and the applicable legislation
  • Excellent networks and knowledge of key stakeholders in the mineral beneficiation.
Note: The successful candidates will be required to sign a performance agreement contract, background verification, including criminal record and citizenship checks as well as competency assessment, will form part of the selection process.
