Faculty Position, School of Historical Studies

The School of Historical Studies at the Institute for Advanced Study seeks to fill the George F. Kennan Chair with a senior scholar in any area of post-Napoleonic or contemporary history. The successful candidate will be a senior figure with a distinguished record of scholarly achievement and whose work demonstrates that he or she recognizes the importance of history for the understanding of contemporary affairs and international relations. The chair holder will be expected to mentor members in these fields. The Kennan Professorship is a limited term appointment but the chair holder, who may come from within or outside of academe, will participate fully in the life of the Institute.
